UK Government website needs Real Help Now
Of the many draughts of fresh air blowing across the Atlantic since the election of the new president, one is the radically improved quality of the White House’s visual communications, not least in the sphere of web design.
Consider the new version Whitehouse.gov, and compare that with the old one, if you can remember it. It’s a worthy successor to Obama’s campaign website, which both in terms of design and functionality was streets ahead of any other campaign website (though one must acknowledge the pioneering work of Howard Dean’s 2004 site).
Poor old Blighty just can’t compete. Today Gordon Brown announced the launch of a new economic recovery website, Real Help Now. The website’s aims are clearly laudable, but the idea is surely inspired by the White House’s Recovery.com.
I’m afraid there’s no comparison. Saint Obama continues to walk on water and the UK just looks rather fuddy duddy. We must be able to do better than this?

‘American blue’ seems to be made for the web. So clever of the founding mothers.

I cant’ speak to Gordan Brown’s government website but I do like the new White House page on the internet, Obama seems to be doing a very impressive job of keeping all mediums not only open but inviting to get the general public to take part in their government, I guess he is rather saintly….
